Lad is a border collie mix that Debbie adopted from a local shelter. Border collies are known to have a lot of energy and are often referred to as dogs that “need a job.” Lad found his calling when he became a Delta Society therapy dog. Debbie started the Paws to Read program with Lad at Round Lake Library.

Ready to go to work, Lad looks proud of his
Delta Pet Partner attire.
They visited schools to promote library programs and reading, and they also went to the College of Lake County to talk about reading and therapy dogs.

"Are you having a happy birthday, Lad?"
Lad never met a person he didn’t like. He loved visiting schools, the library, daycare centers, and story time in the park when the bookmobile came to town. A few months before Lad passed away, a birthday party was held for him complete with story time and some friends who brought gifts.

Fred seems to belistening to one reader,
looking forward to another.
