These children are reading to an Old English Sheepdog at a Barnes & Noble Bookstore.

Big Ben, by Jenny Dale
Spike, the Special Puppy, by Jenny Dale

Bentley is an Old English Sheepdog, an intelligent and versatile breed, often happiest when performing a task. Bentley’s dense waterproof coat has been clipped, which helps him stay very neat and clean. A marked characteristic of this breed is its gait, which is quite like the shuffle of a bear.

Bentley is one of the newest members of Pawsitive Pets in Jacksonville, Florida. He is learning about being a good listener, and the children reading to him at Barnes & Noble love his affectionate disposition. The Old English Sheepdog is said to be the “Nana” in the story of Peter Pan. This fits the description of the Old English in a household, for he is a gentle and loving protector of the children in his “flock.”
